Transportation officials urge state lawmakers to fund deteriorating roads as federal funding expires
National transportation analysts, joined by a state transportation department official and contractors, told New Mexico lawmakers last week that while they have identified improvements for the state’s substandard roads, they lack sufficient funding to make the repairs. The New Mexico Department of Health says a Valencia County child marks the state’s 19th case of measles this year, and also announced several recent dates and locations in Belen that may have exposed others. Officials said the child is recovering at home.

New Mexico AG backs Forward Party’s legal battle for ballot access
New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez is backing the state Forward Party’s legal efforts to get its candidates on the Nov. 3 general election ballot. “Major party candidates, minor party candidates, and independents should compete on a level playing field in New Mexico’s elections. Today, they do not,” the legal briefing from the state Department of Justice reads.
