New Mexico’s trial against Facebook for alleged role in Cambridge Analytica data breach begins
Attorneys for the New Mexico Department of Justice expect to make their opening arguments today in the state’s case against Facebook for its role in the Cambridge Analytica data scandal. The trial will be the third time New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez faces off against the tech giant in recent months. New Mexico sues feds over refusing to reimburse state for $61M in wildfire costs
Source’s Patrick Lohmann reports New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Tuesday announced that her office had sued the Federal Emergency Management Agency for failing to reimburse the New Mexico National Guard for at least $61 million in costs it incurred fighting a 2022 wildfire that the federal government inadvertently ignited.

Three New Mexico pueblos and one tribe have wrapped up their closing arguments that a federal judge should step in to prohibit the online prediction market Kalshi from enabling what the plaintiffs allege amounts to illegal sports gambling on sovereign tribal land.

New Mexico Senate Minority Leader Bill Sharer (R-Farmington) on Tuesday accused state Rep. Andrea Romero (D-Santa Fe), who recently resigned from her controversial job with a local prosecutor, of engaging in a “pay to play” scheme by appropriating taxpayer dollars to the DA’s office before taking a job there.
